Here are some important hardwood flooring facts

There are plenty of reasons to take a good long look at hardwood flooring for your next project. It has all the characteristics you'll find necessary for an excellent floor covering, including many benefits of which you might not even be aware of. It could be very beneficial to consider your options by taking a closer look at this material for yourself.

We look forward to helping you find the durability, the visuals, and functionality that will serve you well, year after year. Since these floors offer a lifespan that can easily exceed 100 years, you’re not likely to have to shop for new flooring any time soon. So let’s dive in.

Engineered wood flooring is a great option

If you have multiple spaces that need flooring, and one of those spaces is a basement area, you’ll want to know more about engineered wood flooring. It’s a perfect alternative to the solid variety, which can never be installed in below-grade rooms. And it has all the same features you love in this flooring line.

With engineered materials, there is a layered construction of plywood to which a real wood veneer is attached. This creates a stable surface, which is then covered with a protective wear layer so you will see fewer dings, dents, and scratches. Still, these floors can be refinished up to several times, depending on the thickness of the real wood veneer.

Solid wood is real wood, through and through, so you can refinish these floors several times, about once every three or four decades. In both material lines, you’ll get to choose attractive options in finish, stain color, and species type, though species type is very foundational. Be sure to select a species that is hard enough for your specific lifestyle, especially if it’s busy or if you have pets and children in the home.
